Bold Boho Wedding w/ Rich Textures

In the midst of a global pandemic couples are still finding a way to celebrate their love. When we were called to plan, design, and coordinate an intimate wedding reception in a backyard, we knew we couldn’t spare any details. We wanted our client and their guest to feel as though they were no longer in a backyard.

We created a modern and vintage design that was full of rich textures, deep red hues, and earth tones. It was important to us that small but important details were shown and fell into the color palette. For example the mixed textured glassware of amber, black smoke, and clear crystal cut champagne flute paired with the modern sleek black and gold flatware. It all tied together with the overall concept, as well as the fine accents, which were also dipped in copper and gold tones.

We were asked to create a design that met the mother of the bride’s modern taste and the bride’s love for vintage boho.It was particularly important that the flowers were subtle but showed character, depth, and texture. Not over the top but vibrant enough to have a modern but vintage touch. That’s where we decided to incorporate pampas grass chandeliers and various hues of red and orange flowers throughout the centerpieces. Tall or not we believe centerpieces are intricate in creating the wow moment most brides seek to express.

The location was in a private backyard in Victorville so the scene naturally fit the brides vintage boho feel. With her desire to have a circle for the photobooth, we knew we had to incorporate the pampas grass, rich hues of red, and orange florals. The backyard provided the natural feel we were seeking with the brick wall and wood gate surrounded by dirt hills. Therefore, it only made sense to keep the circle in a natural setting.

Let’s talk about the wedding cake. Our bride’s mother designed and made the modern yet vintage wedding cake that floated on a 7ft tall hanging triangle cake stand. We decided to give a modern twist to a traditional yet significant wedding focal point. We decided to use oversized dried palm leaves in copper and green tones mixed with large and medium pampas grass behind the bride and groom table. This created the perfect backdrop for our sweetheart table because the bride was surrounded by her favorite dried florals.

Now nothing should stand in the way of a modern vintage wedding reception. Brides are now choosing to host receptions in their backyard without losing any of the details.
